Outboard mic pres:

We have an array of outboard mic pres highlighted by a Vintech 473 with four channels of Class A discrete preamplification and four API 512s. We also have a few flavors of tube mic pre including a modified 1959 Magnacorder, a Sebatron Thorax, a Universal Audio 610 tube and others.

Signal processing and effects:

LA2A, Distressor (2), Gain Brain I (4), Quad Eight CL-22 (2), DBX 160 A (2), Roland R-880 Digital Reverb, Eventide H-3000, Yamaha Rev 7, SPX 90.

Microphones:

In addition to the normal stable of SM-57s, 58s and other miscellaneous workhorse mics, we have a closet full of microphones including a FLEA U-47, Altec Coke Bottle 150, Blue Cactus, Neumman U-87, AKG 414 (2), 224e, D-12e, D-112, C-451e, Cascade Fathead ribbon stereo pair, Oktavamod-modded Oktava 012 stereo pair and a third with the Red lollipop capsule, 2 Sennheiser 421s, 609, 2 Shure SM 81s,2 SM-7s, Beta 87, Beta 91, Audix D-6, and a ton more.

Guitars, basses and amps:

There is always a Les Paul Custom, American-made Strat and Tele and an American-made Fender Jazz bass within arms reach, as well as six- and twelve-stringed acoustics. We also have Marshall heads and cabinets, a Fender Bassman, and several vintage tube and solid state amp heads along with three custom-made speaker cabinets and an Ampeg 410 bass cabinet. The Bass Pod XT pro and a Vox tonelab are available for those who prefer cabinet simulation and we also have a Radial JD-7, a one into seven guitar splitter/re-amp box that is a revolutionary way to record guitar with limitless possibilities.

Drums:

A five-piece Drum Workshop kit is available along with a 1953 Gretsch four-piece with a 20” kick and an early 80’s Premier four-piece with a 22” kick. We have numerous snares, maple, steel, aluminum, brass and copper including a five and a half inch Ludwig Black Beauty, a Drum Workshop half-brass, half-maple Edge snare, a wonderful sounding brass Slingerland and a couple of Pearl free-floaters with interchangeable shells. There is plenty of brass to choose from featuring only the finest from Paiste, Sabian and Zildjian.

Keys:

Helpenstill 64-key piano, Alesis Micron and a few midi controllers.

Percussion:

Bongos, congas, tambourines, shakers, maracas, cowbells, wood blocks, chimes, sleigh bells, and anything else you can imagine including a 32-inch gong.

Recorders:

All computer-based recording is handled by a modified Mac Pro running Pro Tools HD through Lynx Aurora conversion. Our digital recording is done by a pair of Alesis HD-24s and we keep a rack of ADATS just for the old-timers. All analog recording is done to an MCI JH24 2” 24-track with a brand new head stack that sounds fantastic.

Monitors:

A pair of Dynaudio BM5As and a Dynaudio sub and a pair of Yamaha NS-10s handle the monitoring chores in the control room.

Special needs:

Because of our close working relationship with Analog Domain, a local boutique recording gear rental and repair shop, we can accommodate almost any need in terms of rare vintage analog mic pres and processing as well as two inch tape machines. Analog Domain has a wide variety of meticulously maintained gear including Trident A and B range sidecars, Neve sidecars and a collection of the finest equalizers, effects and compressor/limiters including eqs by Sphere Eclipse, Massenburg and Aengus and Fairchild compressors.
