One of the features unique to STEM compared to all other recording facilities in Phoenix is the fact that it was designed and built from the from the ground up with the express purpose of audio recording, not a modification of an existing building. This allows for separate foundations for each room which limits vibrations and sound from passing from one room to the next. HVAC system features dedicated sends and returns to and from each room which prevents sound traveling through the ductwork from room to room.

The Tracking and mixing rooms at STEM and all acoustical treatments were designed by a prominent acoustical engineer and studio designer and the 1200 square foot main room features 12-foot high ceilings and no parallel surfaces providing superior acoustics.
